Zach Pattyn signs with Warnert

After a stellar performance during the first half of the World Snowmobile Tour Zach Pattyn has been signed on to race the remainder of the 2005/2006 season for Warnert Racing. Warnert has had a long-time relationship with Stud Boy owner Ron Pattyn (Zach Pattyn's father) so the connection was already established. With a season-ending injury to Semi-Pro rider Jeff Gruhlke the team had been patiently watching the Semi-Pro ranks and evaluating riders to see if anyone might fit the gap left by Gruhlke. With a number of podiums already under his belt this season, Zach is well on his way to Semi-Pro points championship.

Zach not only qualified to be in the ESPN Winter X Games event itself, which is an accomplishment, but Zach also was 1 of 4 Quarterfinal winners and ended up advancing all the way to the final, finishing in 9th place. Only one other full Semi-Pro even made it all the way to the final this year. After watching the young Pattyn all season and watching him race past seasoned Pros in X Games qualifying, Ron and Mark Warnert could no longer resist the urge to bring Pattyn on board.

Pattyn's long-term future with the team remains to be seen but for now he will be a part of the Warnert Racing team through the rest of the season.

Race Cancellation Update

We will not be making up last Sunday's, January 29th, race. The make up date set for February 18th is cancelled. This is being done because of the added cost and inconvenience to you the racers and also to WPSA Woody's MI Regional. I have talked to the main office and have come up with the following solutions:

1. Half of all uncompleted race entry fees will be refunded.
2. Points earned on last Saturday will be updated as earned racing.
3. Pro, Semi-Pro, Pro Plus 35 and Pro Women payout will be half the normal on the payout schedule based on points earned racing in Rounds 1 & 2.
4. Jr. 10-13, 120 Champ, and 120 stock race entry fees scheduled for last Sunday will be refunded.

Thank you for racing with us at WPSA Woody's MI Regional. Let's hope Mother Nature doesn't throw us any more curve balls this season and we can race uninterrupted the remainder of the race season.
Bill Egger, WPSA Woody's MI Regional Race Director

The Gaylord Regional is a go! Make sure you thank John C., Steve L. and Ron for all their hard work to make this race happen. Alot of for thought went into piling the snow before the warm weather hit! Great Job as usual guys!

August 8, 2005 - 800cc Class Update

Due to a rule change, there will be no classes for the 800cc motors (stock or open) at WSA sanctioned events. This rule change has been submitted to our insurance underwriters, making it an uninsurable class. We will not run a class that has no insurance coverage.

The 600cc open class is now the largest motor endorsed by our insurance underwriter. Sorry for any problems this may have caused, but this is really out of our control.

In a unprecedented turn of events, the racers of WSA voted on the coming race schedule and the majority has stated that they wish to race at the fairgrounds on March 5-6th and again on March 12-13th to wrap up our season. This vote was taken after it was determined that Treetops wished to keep the resort open one week longer than scheduled, thus pushing our year end race back. But the Racers have spoken and WSA is listening. We will end our race season on March 12-13th at the Otsego County Fairgrounds.

Monday, February 14th, 2005

The original schedule called for an 8 race series, due the cancellation of Cadillac we will now only have a 7 race series. The event scheduled for Feb 19-20th has be cancelled. We will resume racing on Feb 26-27th at the Otsego County Fairgrounds. The season will continue on in three consecutive weekends of racing. March 5-6th at the home track then our year ending event is tentatively scheduled for Treetops on the weekend of March 12-13th. Our banquet is set for April 16th again at Treetops.

Thursday, February 10th,2005

We have just received word that Cadillac is unable to host our races due to increased cost of the Wexford County Fairgrounds. This is an unfortunate turn of events that was unexpected. Ron Hacker put in alot of time to make this race a success. He efforts are tireless to help WSA in putting on first class events. Look for these races to be moved back to our home track in Gaylord. Home sweet home!

Thursday, February 3rd, 2005

We have two new race venues on the schedule, February 19-20th and February 26 -27th we are now racing in Cadillac. Snowcross.net will be working with the local hotels to try and get a Snowcross rate right away. Please check the message board for updates on this and signup locations!

Word has just come down that the practice track will be open on Friday from 2pm - dark. We all need to support this effort to open the track. The fee to ride will be $25.00, it is important that we get 40+ riders there to insure we break even in costs. If we don't break even this may be the last practice session that we get this year. J&N Construction has been hard at work turning the track over and busting up the ice. Click here to see the pictures. Your help is needed to make this a success.

Sunday, December 5th, 2004

The opening race for the Woody's WSA Regional series has been cancelled and no make up date has been set at this time. We tried to move the event back one week to Dec 18-19th but the Resort is unable to accommodate this change. Due to warm weather and the inability to produce enough man made snow for the area we have to cancel this event to insure that we produce HIGH QUALITY events. See you all in January at the Fairgrounds for the first race of the season..

The Practice track at the Fairgrounds may open before the first race please keep an eye on the website for details on this.

Thanks to Rob Mason of Arctic Cat Ind., Arctic Cat is donating the use of 2 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 ATV'S for the upcoming Woody's WSA Regional 04/05 Season. These will be used for the Regional Races
